    Frequently asked questions

When should I start pre-departure preparation?

Start at least 6–8 weeks before your departure date. Some items (accommodation, health insurance enrollment) have hard deadlines that can't be left to the last minute.

Do I need health insurance before I arrive in the USA?

Most US universities require you to enroll in their student health insurance plan (or provide proof of equivalent coverage) before the semester starts. We walk you through this process.

How do I open a US bank account as an international student?

You can open an account with a US Social Security Number (SSN) or ITIN, but many banks (including Chase and Bank of America) accept a university enrollment letter for international students. We advise on the best options for your situation.
